Who We Are

A welcoming community for college students at UNC-CH.

We are a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Christian community in Chapel Hill creating space for students to belong, believe, and become. UNC PCM strives to provide an inclusive, affirming space for students to explore their faith, ask questions, build community, and grow together.

PCM is an official More Light ministry, meaning that we are  “dedicated to allowing the full participation of LGBTQIA+ people in life, ministry, and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in society.

You are always welcome and celebrated at PCM.

Our Mission

Presbyterian Campus Ministry of Chapel Hill is an affirming Christian community for UNC-Chapel Hill students to be fully known and loved. We invite Carolina students to:

  • Belong: engage authentically in our intentionally nurtured community

  • Believe: expand and deepen their belief and understanding of the Triune God

  • Become: foster life-giving spiritual practices and invest their gifts in the world.

We aim to set the foundation for a healthy, authentic, and life-long relationship with God.

What We Do

We hope you can find a community here at PCM! There are many ways to get connected...

Thursday Night Programs

Our primary programming happens on Thursday nights, from 6-8pm: this is a great time to share a home-cooked meal, experience fellowship, and explore faith together.

From 6-7pm, we all share a meal together– inclusive of all dietary restrictions– and homemade by students on our leadership team. From 7-8pm, we spend an hour engaging in large and small groups with a student-led discussion topic. Past topics have included holy anger, uncertainty and doubt, expansive gender identities in scripture, and theology & play… but topics are always changing, and are based on student interests.

Bible Study

Each semester, we begin a new weekly Bible study supported by PCM staff and by staff at University Presbyterian Church. These weekly discussions are casual, fun, and open-minded— no pre-knowledge or Bible trivia skills needed! PCM Bible study is a great way to start exploring Scripture and asking questions, whether you’re well-versed or it’s your first time paging through a Bible.

Retreats

PCM loves to travel! Each year, we go on a minimum of four optional retreats:
• Fall Beach Retreat
• Montreat College Conference
• Spring Break Trip (past trips: Cuba, New Mexico, NC Mountain Backpacking, California, New Mexico)
• Spring Mountain Retreat

PCM Retreats are a great way to grow closer in community, to take a break from the stressors of college, and to spend time laughing, bonding, relaxing, and reflecting together.
Trip costs are all on a sliding scale. Scholarships and financial assistance are available for all PCM travel— we never want cost to be a barrier.
